An involuntary asylum seeker

Let me tell you about our suffering. I came from Saudi Arabia, alongside my two children and my husband too, in order to get qualifications for life, medicine. My dream was to devote my time and energy to take me to what I was willing to achieve in regenerative medicine, the future of personalised medicine when the patient is provided with the best treatment available from their own body cells. I believe that using the patient's stem  cells to repair damaged tissues or regenerate their organs has a great potential in saving lives. That's what makes a real difference in peoples' lives for me.

I was government sponsored and was paid the tuition fees as well as the monthly allowance according to the scholarship agreement confirmed by Saudi government.

I am an ex-Muslim as I believe science answers so many questions Islam could not, and by evidence I couldn't deny the facts in front of my eyes. My husband is agnostic, and it occurred that he worked for the Saudi Embassy in 2014, volunteering to assist Saudi students in their academic issues, but it turned out there were some issues he did not agree with the Saudi government (our story on my Twitter account here).

We are so badly affected by the groundless decision of cancelling my scholarship which was supposed to include the tuition fees and the cost of living we should receive, leaving us completely destitute. So we have been abandoned from our country because we what we have in our minds.

After more than one year from the conflict with the Saudi Arabian government, I was withdrawn from my studies at the University of Glasgow in Scotland in the UK and my Saudi current bank account that we used to save our money into is frozen so I couldn't withdraw money to pay the bills, rent or even to feed my family anymore. We even ran out of money in our British bank accounts, hence I sold all my jewellery to pay the rent for February this year. And lastly I sold my wedding ring to feed my children, which really broke my heart, but it is for my children though. We could not work as well, as the British law prevents us to do so.

We could not pay March rent, and the next month rent, as the landlord has been very appreciative, but we totally understand their own financial commitments too. Today I received an email that if we could not pay the rent, the estate agency would start to process the eviction.

In February 2016, the Member of Parliament in Westminster, Patrick Grady MP, the local representative for the area nearby our home, kindly offered to represent our case at the British Parliament in order to find a way to resolve the issue.

My dream, to study medicine so I would be qualified to save lives one day, has been crushed. My dream has now become how to pay the monthly rent so we wouldn't be homeless and how to feed my children and pay other financial commitments towards others.

So we are kindly asking you to help us to pay the late rent which is £850. Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to read through our story. We would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Please find attached of documents you might need to have a look. And please if you want to know more, you could contact me via the phone number or email address provided, you are also welcome if you would like to visit us at home here in Glasgow in Scotland.

If anyone of you could help to convey our story to the United Nation to protect us from repressive Saudi regime, or know any international Press, please do contact me.

We love freedom, seeking the truth, justice and all the people of goodwill.

Dear people,

We are writing to let you know that our situation has not changed since we claimed the asylum. We are still struggling financially with our everyday essential needs. Sadly, we have been unable to pay the rent, as the last payments made were for the two months' rent using your donations (thank you very much indeed), and the landlord has not asked for their money since then, appreciating very much this compassionate gesture. Our neighbor has been helping by sharing his Internet service with us.

With the very little of money, we have been trying to keep our bodily activities to function as long as possible until finding a way out of this crisis. It is very sad to let you know that we are still unable to work, as we are following the law of the country.

We are subject to an extreme cause of outward misery, and we do not wish on any human being to be subject to it too. We would be very grateful, so much appreciating if you could contribute whatever amount. This would be a great help indeed.

Thank you for taking the time to read through our message.

Kind regards,

So, let me get the facts, you & your husband, are Saudi born citizens, meaning that you are fully aware that Saudi Arabia laws are - since 1920's so it's not something that came up out of nowhere - based on Islamic Sharia'a. Moreover, this country that you are blaming for your own actions, have given you and your husband the financial support to be able to continue your study abroad. Took care of University tuition, gave you, your husband, son & daughter monthly based salary so that they make sure that you will not have any financial concerns during your maybe 5-8 years and they only ask you to abide by their laws and when you finish, come back and benefit your community with your knowledge and practice. After all these facts, you go publicly - during the sponsorship of this so bad country - and claim things that are, yes your own believes, against the laws of Saudi Arabia. But you are so great so they should say "no Haifa is a good person, she didn't mean to insult our religion and faith even though she knows that we have strict RULES against such actions" and not affect your life? Well, let me tell you a story from your own backyard missy. You think that thoughts or believes or merely "tweets" in the western world are respected if they are against the laws of which a country that your a citizen of? Yes? WELL a BIG FAT NO and YOU ARE COMPLETELY WRONG! I just did a small search in google with the following phrase "Anti-Semitic case against professor" and one of the first results I reached was "Professor’s Angry Tweets on Gaza Cost Him a Job" in New York Times. Which is an article about how a very well educated American professor have lost his job back in 2014, just because he "tweeted" his thoughts in regard of what Israel, another country, are doing to Palestinians. Yes, an American professor, in the so called land of the free, with the freedom to speck in their constitution, was forced to resign because he felt discomfort of all the "killing" that another country is responsible of. Now, I'm not saying that this case is more important or not than yours, I'm just saying that you, and whomever is supporting you, think for an instance that Saudi Arabia are doing unjust action against you, you are all WRONG. Since that Saudi Arabia have a law that abides whoever have the Saudi citizenship or lives in it to respect all religions, and that means, never insult any aspect of it publicly. And this law is well-known, not something that comes up towards certain geniuses such yourself out of despite. This law is just and it goes toward having a more respectful behavior towards something that billions of people around the world feel strong towards it and when you insult it, you are insulting them all. And if your excuse is that an amount of people that are less than 1% used Islam as motive to do illegal actions to insult 99%, well then I think this excuse is not acceptable. At least all of the 1% are doing, they are doing illegally without any official support by any Muslim country, while Israel with their “Anti-Semitic” law are forcing people in other countries with different citizenship to stay silent towards their terrorism actions against Palestinians, and if they dare to just state their mere opinion about actions that are taken by Israel, they lose everything! To all the great people who think they are doing something great by supporting someone that is well educated and yet broke their country's laws, well, if someone chose to support ISIS, because they believe in their illegal actions, you shouldn't complain just because Haifa is only going against Saudi's laws. As ISIS supporters are doing the same thing. FYI, Saudi Arabia, have been a victim to ISIS and Al Qaeda actions since 1999. And since then, our country is doing all it can to fight them and their supporters. But of course, you don't care about this fact since it shows that your case against Saudi Arabia is weak.

Haifa, I saw the video of your speech at the Scottish Secular Society on YouTube. I was impressed and moved by your story. You and your husband remind of Ayn Rand characters, standing against an irrational world with nothing but your reason and willingness to act on it, and your courage. I want you to know you count on my support if it's ever needed again,

I am impressed with the care which you have taken to prepare your GoFundMe page. It is clear why you think that the Saudi Government is repressive. However: "We need an international protection from the repressive UK ... government..." I find that statement irritating because It is NOT clear why you accuse the UK government of being repressive, even though you are seeking its protection through an asylum claim there. How do you think the UK public can bring itself to support you financially or otherwise when you defame its authorities?

haifa . to change you faith is your choice but to fake facts and lie about your situation is not ethical nor acceptable by a student who seeks to be a doctor. we all know that schoolers hips are only granted for excellent students all over the globe not to loosens who waist 3 years on doing nothing . premed is one of the easiest years in med school. you had your chance to pass it using a generous schoolership from your government but you waist it. so pleas stop acting like a child and stand up and hold your self accountable for your acts . medical school is not for every one so find your self another school that fits your capabilities. and stop confabulating facts . I dare you to put your school record for the past 3 years online just like you didn't with your picture and story . changing your faith as an adult is your choice no one can argue against it and belive me you will not be considered as a loss to Islam as thousands of people all over the globe are joint Islam every month so relax no one care about what you did but just try to learn how to be Nobel and tell the truth .
