Help Greg Beat His Tumor

Donation protected

This is my good buddy Greg, his story is one of volunteerism, strength, and will power. Greg has been volunteering with Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue for 14 years and is one of the intricate puzzle pieces that makes this unit function. His work as Assistant Head Logistics Advisor makes him one of our "go-to" guys for questions regarding anything equipment related. Since the beginning of our training year in September, Greg has given over 400 hours of his time, his dedication to our organization has never been doubted.

You may have seen him on TV on one of our SAR missions, you may know him as someone that has saved you lost in the woods, you may know him as the family member that loves to joke around, or you may not know him at all. I know him as someone in my SAR family that I can trust and depend on no matter what, that is why I am asking for your help.

Last March Greg thought he twisted his ankle and was hobbling on it for a month before he went in and had it checked out. Come to find out he had a Giant Cell Tumor of the bone on his lower tibia. The doctors put him on a 6 month treatment plan which required surgery in October 2016. Greg was feeling better and he was able to return to full status with work and SAR. In March 2017 his ankle started to hurt again and when the doctor checked it out they had found that the tumor had returned with a vengeance and had eaten away the rest of his tibia. This morning, my friend had a life altering surgery to amputate part of his leg.

Greg is in good spirits, but the hospital bills from the last two surgeries will be rough. Greg will be in Physical Therapy for months and he isn't sure when he will be able to return to work. He does have insurance, but we are unsure how much it will cover. The prosthetic he is getting will cost around $7,000-$8,000. We are trying to raise $10,000 to cover the prosthetic and any generous donations after that will go towards hospital bills and cost of living while not working.

I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to read this page and considering donating. I know Greg is very appreciative of all the support he has around him.
