Costa Rica - Healthcare Volunteer
Donation protected
I've had my heart set on visiting Costa Rica for a while now and I’m happy to say that on July 26th my flight departs from Phoenix to San Jose!
I believe the more you are blessed with in life, the more you should give back to others and for that reason, I'm making a part of my traveling experience into a volunteering opportunity. The first week and a half of my trip, I will be a healthcare volunteer in local hospitals, health campaigns, nursing homes, clinics for disabled children, and HIV/AIDS assisted living homes. I'm looking forward to doing what I love and providing help where I can. I am a certified Emergency Medical Technician and have volunteered around the state and cannot wait to put my skills and Spanish to a test in a different country.
I'm currently working in a healthcare setting and attending ASU for a degree in Health Science. Thanks to the long hours I've put into work, and with the help of my credit card, I’ve managed to fund my own trip. So why did I create a Gofundme page?
I was recently inspired by another volunteer's blog to use Gofundme, not for my trip's expenses but to raise money for supplies for people in need. The Vitamin Campaign is a program which is in conjunction with IVHQ (the organization I’m volunteering with). Due to lack of funding and education, a lot of children suffer from malnutrition and anemia in Costa Rica. In order to make the campaign possible, each volunteer is asked to bring a bottle of children's vitamins. With the money I raise, I am hoping to be able to provide more than just a bottle of vitamins.
I encourage you to skip the drink at Starbucks this week and make even just the smallest donation. Thanks for taking the time to read this and know that 100% of the donations will go towards a great cause. I appreciate any and all support and I know the children of Costa Rica will appreciate it even more.
