SUNY NP Global Medical Brigades

We are the SUNY New Paltz chapter of Global Medical Brigades. Though our title is long, our mission is quite simple: provide sustainable healthcare solutions to the rural communities of Central America. Within these communities, clinics are scarce and often without sufficient medicine and/or staffing. Such a deficit leads to ailments going untreated or undiagnosed for spans up to a person’s entire lifetime. As a part of this organization, our goal is to facilitate medical care, increase prevention through education and provide resources for patient follow up. Our involvement goes beyond simply saving and enhancing the lives of those we treat during our visit, but rather simultaneously focuses on the long-term quality of life improvement for those within these rural communities through the implementation of a patient referral program with local specialists. Through the provision of consistent access to healthcare, we are creating opportunity. This opportunity is what enables these communities to grow and prosper, which is why any donation possible is so important. By supporting this cause you are providing us with the resources necessary to achieve success and more greatly expand our impact. Our urgent need for funding stems from our necessity for medications. These medications are used within our mobile clinics for the provision of immediate health care to those in need. The amount of medication required for this trip is vast and any financial support we receive is greatly appreciated not only by us, but the people of Nicaragua.
