PHIL'S STORY, DIRECTOR OF NORTHREACH:

This is Alfie, my son.
He is now 3 years old and having the time of his life, however three years ago things weren’t so happy and straight forward for him and my wife Claire.

Little Alfie decided to come and visit the world 2 months prematurely causing significant stress to himself and my wife during delivery.
Luckily for everyone he was transferred immediately to the NICU ward at Basildon hospital. It’s there he was looked after with the upmost care and attention and was resuscitated over a 4 week period so he could finally come home to his family. It amazed me how hard the nurses and doctors worked 24 hours a day to keep him safe and well and never once did they not smile about the process making sure Claire and myself felt confident about his health and well-being.

CLOE'S STORY, FRIEND OF SAM:

When Marshall was born at Basildon hospital Weighing in at 9lb 12oz, it was thought he had fluid on his lungs. He was transferred to NICU, cared for and made better. Marshall spent the first few months of his life in an out of the children’s A&E department at Basildon hospital due to his allergies and not feeding then at 7 months he was admitted for a week due to bronchiolitis and dehydration. Two weeks later he was back in with what was thought to be an allergic reaction but instead it was measles. After another week we got to come home, we now spend a lot of time going back and forth to various specialists. Since then he’s had multiple ear infections and tonsillitis within a year. He’s received a lot of care from both A&E and the specialists at Basildon because of this.

Not every child was so lucky that year and as a thank you to the staff I would like to raise money with my company Northreach to be able to deliver presents for the children on the run up to Xmas!

This is our second edition of our campaign "CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR THE KIDS". Last year, with your help, we managed to raise over £2450 to purchase gifts for over 50 children hospitalised at Basildon Hospital and support Polly Parrot Children's Appeal - Basildon and Thurrock Hospitals Charity.

But this year we're doing something different!

Northreach Pack
is taking on a challenge to play board games NONSTOP for 24 hours!
.. and you're more than welcome to join us!

CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR THE KIDS 2:  24H BOARD GAME CHALLENGE.

On 6th of December, Northreach are hosting the 24H Board Game Challenge to raise the funds towards Christmas Gifts for the Children who are unfortunate enough to be spending this festive season in Basildon Hospital.

We will need your donations to purchase gifts for over 50 children;
There are two wards - wagtail and puffin, each have 18 bed bays, so a total of 36. There is also the neo-natal intensive care unit which has 15 cots. That brings us to a total of 51 beds based on full capacity.

Any funds raised above our goal will be donated to the charity to help cover the costs of anything else that needs a financial support - cover the running costs of Polly's Pad or help to invest in interactive floor system in children's emergency.

PLEASE HELP US OUT, SPREAD THE WORD, DONATE AND LET'S MAKE IT HAPPEN!
