Hi, my name is Candy and I am a business owner and proud resident of Corozal, Belize. Our community is raising $5,300 BZD to purchase a used plastics shredder and here’s why: Plastic trash is a global problem. I’m asking you to help me make Corozal an eco-jewel in the Caribbean.
Our Work
Corozal citizens are volunteering to clean our streets, parks and waterways of trash in organised community events. We care about the environment and beauty of our town. The community has a Keep-Corozal-Clean attitude and supports initiatives to place barrels for trash in strategic areas, like parks and along the bay-front beaches. We are educating people and getting more organised throughout our community.
A temporary collection station is already in full use at my shop, and we will be asking other business to set out collection bins. We are working with the Town Council to establish a permanent collection centre and to arrange recycling pick up by the town trash collection trucks. We will work with local vendors, stores and restaurants to collect plastics and reduce the trash created.
Your Help
Your donation will fund the shredder necessary to process the collected plastics and make it useful to vendors such as Belize Interlocking Pavers & Blocks and, in turn, support local businesses.
Your donation demonstrates a commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment. We live here and tourists enjoy our magnificent jungles, mountains, rivers, and cayes. The second longest barrier reef in the world lies just off our coast and supports an amazing marine eco-system that we need to keep healthy and trash-free.

The donation goal of $5,300BZD is currently displayed as $3,500CAD. The beneficiary of the campaign funds is Penny Lebrun, the organiser’s friend and partner. Because Penny’s bank account is Canadian, donations are collected in Canadian dollars. As of 13 November 2018, $1 CAD = $1.52 BZD = $ 0.76 USD.
