This is my wife Gella and me on our wedding day in 2013.
We have been married 3 wonderful years so far. She stuck by me when I was diagnosed with Narcolepsy and had to change careers (I can still work hard, just not sitting at a desk), and is the kindest, most empathetic person I have ever known. She laughs at my dumb puns, watches silly comic book shows with me, and loves to laugh along to a podcast while snuggling in bed together. It's true love.
We're having a baby!
Our child is due April 2nd, We are both in our mid 30's, and decided not to wait any longer to try considering the health risks involved increase for the mother each year after 35.
The law of the land has decreed that paid maternity leave is not a reality in this state, and her daycare job will only hold her position for her for 12 weeks, all unpaid. We are asking for $10,000 so that Gella can take all the time she and the baby need for a maternity leave without having to worry about bills, pay for health insurance, the occasional childcare, and cover any unanticipated baby related expenses. I can cover the rest (I think) working two jobs in the service industry.
I would ideally like to have met our goal before the baby arrives in April, since we already have things we need to buy to prepare. I would also like to be able to surprise Gella with this full goal met so she sees how much her friends and family really care about her.
Any donations received will get a personal thank you from me. If we hit our stretch goal of $15,000, this would allow me to cut back to working part time for the first 6 weeks to help out with the baby more, especially if there is any postpartum depression. (I also would love to spend more time with my child)
