Fundraising for Justin

$91,245 of $175,000 goal

Raised by 728 people in 9 months
Those of you that know Justin Yebury know that he has dedicated his life to finding a cure for MND.  Those of you who dont know him. Let me just say he is awesome and needs your help.

Justin Yerbury was diagnosed with MND over 2 years ago and is now almost totally paralysed needing 24hour care for daily living. He is artificially ventilated with a ventilator to allow him to breathe. Justin is currently in the ICU at Macquarie University Hospital waiting to be allocated monetary assistance or for your help to raise funds to allow him to come home and go back to work.
Justin still works at Wollongong University and his commitment is beyond belief. Please help him achieve his goal of living with MND and working to find a cure.
Justin and his family have ongoing expenses and the NDIS have been reluctant to fund his needs and have recently denied the wheelchair application. Justin has a hire wheelchair which is constantly uncomfortable as it is not big enough with Justin being 194cm. The Family also needs a vehicle to transport Justin and a modified bathroom as well as many medical expenses. If you could find it in your heart and pockets to provide some funding towards any of these needs it would alleviate the familys burden.
The devastation of  a MND diagnosed is unexplainable. To know you will slowly be forced to live in a motionless body and not be able to eat, swallow or breathe. But please also consider the financial strain on top of the emotional pain.
Dig deep and help Justin. Thank you.

To all our generous supporters

Thank you so much for your support and kind words of encouragement for Justin. As mentioned in an earlier update the NDIS will cover the wheelchair and the bathroom renovations.

The GoFundMe donations have been used so far to pay for hospital and surgeon's bills, totalling around $8000, the purchase of a Kia Carnival for $34,000 which will be modified to accommodate Justin in the wheelchair. Additionally some house renovations such as a more accessible back door for Justin have commenced.

The rest of the funds will be used for ongoing medical costs, a carport and cover over the ramp and back deck so Justin can keep dry in Winter getting to the vehicle.

We are now trying to get Justin home, and we need to recruit suitable carers for him. If you know anyone who may be interested please please share this link to the job advertisement for his care team. It can also be posted on Facebook.

To all our wonderful donors,
As of this afternoon 9th March 2018, the NDIS have verbally agreed to work with us in approving our application for the wheelchair and the bathroom modifications.
So the amazing amount of funds we have raised will be able to be spent on a vehicle which can be modified, medical expenses and some minor home modifications as well as our ongoing expenses in the future.
Thank you everyone and please continue to share our story and spread the word.
