The Foundation Spot is a DIY skateable sculpture park built by volunteers with money raised through in-kind donations and artshows at PUSH Skateshop. The Spot has become a beacon for grassroots creativity and radical exercise. It is free and open to anyone who wants to ride the terrain or appreciate the world-class graffiti covering the ramps and surrounding walls. The abandoned foundation of a building wiped out in a flood began its life as a DIY skatepark around 2008. For years the skate spot continued to grow on the D.L. without any permission to exist at all. The threat of bulldozer and jackhammer destroying our dreamy wasteland was always a real concern, but in 2015 the property sold and the new owners recognized the cultural landmark the community had created. Amazingly, they want us to keep building and are leasing the skatepark to us for next to nothing. The caveat: we have to pay for an insurance policy which will cost $6,000 per year. Now we are raising money to pay for insurance so we can keep the place. Once we hit that goal we will dive back into building more dreams.

Donations are tax-deductible thanks to our affiliation with Arts2People, an Asheville based 501c3 non-profit. We are in the process of forming our own non-profit, Asheville Skate Foundation, and A2P is helping us out in the meanwhile. Big thanks for their help and everyone else whose got their heart behind Foundy.

Proceeds from gofundme support our new INSURANCE POLICY and NEW RAMPS and other amenities to maintain our skateable sculpture park!

Good news: we raised just enough here and at the Foundation Hellraiser to fund the insurance policy!! Continued fundraising efforts will go towards infrastructure at The Foundation Spot, including pouring a new ramp. Thank you for supporting our efforts.
