For Frankie is a free laundry service for those who can not afford it or do not have the available resources to do so.

Who is Frankie?
Frankie is a young girl I met while working at a thrift store here in Greenville, SC. She'd come in once a week to buy a new outfit. Little did I know, she was buying new clothes in order to throw out the clothes she had on her back. She had no way of washing them. One morning I decided that I was going to do something about this. I went up to her and said, “Hey, my name is Adahlia. I have an idea. What if you pick an outfit out, I'll buy it, and you give me the clothes you are wearing and I will wash them. Then, you can come back tomorrow and get them.” She was nearly in tears because she hadn't had a stranger show that amount of care to her in years. After about 20 minutes of chatting, I learned a majority of her story. She's had one of the hardest lives I've ever heard. I learned that she isn't in any shelter or program, and that she and a few others were living in some woods down the road.

I decided to name this service "For Frankie" because every time I would do her laundry and bring it to work, I would say "these are for Frankie", every one I used to work with was on board with this idea and loved Frankie just as much as I did. I believe that this will bring the community together by helping our neighbors in need. There are so many men and women just like Frankie out there who are unable to feel confident by not being able to wash their clothes.

Why:
Everybody deserves a chance. By not having clean clothes to wear, how are you going to feel confident while you know in the back of your mind that you have worn the same outfit for the past week? I want to develop relationships with those who are in need and have them know that people care about them and that they are not alone. I believe with all my heart that the most amazing conversations will happen between the community with just these few hours of serving each other.

Where/When:
Laundry services will be provided once a week at a laundromat in downtown Greenville.

How you can help:
This gofundme is just for start up funds: laundry soap and money to do the laundry.

What you can do:
You can contact me to serve in different ways such as donating soap, fabric softener, lemons (lemons are a great and easy way to get the smell of smoke out of clothing), and or volunteering to help do laundry!

Thank you so much!
