Power to the Flooded!

Donation protected
My name is Harriet Festing, I am the director of a nonprofit initiative, Flood Forum USA, that helps people harmed by flooding get heard, organized and supported.

I'm fundraising for some incredible individuals who are helping their flooded neighbors. 100% of your donation will be used to bring flood survivors together to tell their stories, discuss solutions, and most of all, get heard by media and the government! No funds will be used for salaries.

These Flood Group leaders are:
- Susan and Paula from the Citizens Committee for Flood Relief, City of De Soto, MO
- Tammy, Denise and Danny from Lemmon Valley Flood Relief , NV
- Ed, Dean and Cynthia from Residents Against Flooding, Houston, TX
- Virginia and Bob from Stop the Flooding Now, Virginia Beach, VA
- Beth from the Sewerage and Water FightBack Coalition (managed by A Community Voice ), New Orleans, LA

Flood survivors face homelessness, spiralling costs and physical and mental illness. They often struggle to be heard by local and state officials or administrators.

By joining together in Flood Groups, residents can help spur governments and agencies to establish effective plans to protect communities from future disasters.

In fact, some groups are already putting pressure on state and local governments to forbid new building in flood prone areas until they have adequately addressed changing weather and climate.

Our Flood Groups have already had some major successes. They have appeared on radio and TV (including 60 Minutes), and garnered significant interest from local, state and federal legislators. They have also gotten help from engineers, hydrologists and social service providers. Your donation  can help magnify their voice.

If you would like your donation to go to a specific group, please leave a comment or contact me directly. Even the smallest donation will help them advocate on behalf of flood survivors. We'll keep you updated on their progress.

Flood Forum USA is an initiative of Anthropocene Alliance (Aa) , a tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. If you would like to donate to Aa, please go to our website. All donations will be gratefully acknowledged.
