Flat Earth Coasters
Following the success of our infocards the Flat Earth community is launching it's next fundraiser;
this time we're ordering 10,000 (yes ten thousand!) custom Flat Earth coasters! They'll be placed in pubs, clubs, cafés, bars and restaurants in over 100 locations across the UK.
The coasters will be left in places where groups of (slightly inebriated?) friends, family, colleagues gather to have conversation.
The front of the coaster is designed to say "You've heard of Flat Earth, now turn me over to understand it."
And the back states 5 community sourced facts:
8 inches per mile squared of measurable curvature should exist on a 25,000km circumference spheroid.
The north star never moves despite the globe hurtling through space at 67,000mph.
The antarctic treaty prohibits independent exploration of the antarctic.
The horizon always rises to eye level (full stop is missing on image displayed but will be visible on the final prints)
Radar doesn't work on a globe.
Plus space for a hand written message from the distributor, maybe a weblink, hashtag or a favorite Flat Earth fact.
AND a basic Azimuthal Equidistant projection showing the arctic wall around the edge of our earth and the north pole in the center.
Tie this all together with some smart phones and we can get some real deep, eye opening conversations instigated!
Imagine reading this coaster and then hearing the next table talking about Flat Earth, let's get people engaging in public!
Receipt and distribution
The coasters will be ordered from beermats4u.uk who where not only the most friendly printing company we spoke to but also had the lowest price; the same quality coasters 20% cheaper than their competitors!
So the 10,000 coasters will cost £350 including VAT and shipping to my address in Nottingham, UK.
I propose that we distribute packs of 50 coasters for £5 per pack.
This will:
-cover £3.50 postage and packaging
-donate £1.50 to our next campaign
-allow us to distribute coasters in up to 200 locations across the UK
-ensure the coasters do get distributed (a free item is more likely to get left in a draw and forgotten about).
Alternate shipping costs within the UK;
0-2 coasters £1.00
2-100 coasters £3.50
100+ coasters £6.00
By donating to this campaign you are becoming a catalyst for Flat Earth conversations between groups of friends, families & colleagues; which would usually never happen. We are normalizing Flat Earth conversation. Once it's "okay" to talk about Flat Earth, everybody will talk about Flat Earth.
Soon there won't be enough of us to go around!
