Fight 4 Ryder

Ryder is your typical 9 year old boy, who loves being outdoors.  He has a younger sister called Ruby and a younger brother called Oliver and you can normally find them outdoors racing on their scooters, bikes or skateboards.

Ryder is passionate about animals and loves being around horses. He is a member of the under 10's at the Mount Martha Football Club and supports Carlton against the wishes of some of his Uncle and Aunties.

Ryder was admitted to the Royal Children's Hospital on Wednesday night and in the early hours of Thursday morning, his Mum and Dad (Tegan and Matthew) received the devastating news that Ryder has leukaemia! Ryder started his first round of chemotherapy on Friday which will run for approximately a month. During this time he will be confined to the ward where Tegan will stay with him.

Over the next 3.5 years they will have many challenges and finances doesn't need to be one of them! We've set up this page in the hope that as a community we can support Tegan, Matthew & Family.

Thank you for reading Ryder's story and thank you very much for any donation you are able to make.

With Love,
The Enright and Hearps family xxx

Note: This page was set-up by Ryan & Alana, Ryder's Uncle and Aunty. All donations will be credited directly to Tegan's nominated bank account.

Hi All,

Some of you may be wondering how Ryder is going? So we thought we’d give you an update on Ryder and his battle with leukaemia.

It has now been 3 and 1/2 weeks since his parents received the devastating news that a parent never wants to hear! Our boy Ryder has leukaemia.

Since his diagnosis Ryder has undergone numerous chemotherapy treatments, blood tests, lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, tablets, fluids, needles and he has done it with a smile and hasn’t complained! He’s a remarkable young man!

As mentioned in my first post, Ryder is a keen Carlton supporter and this week he was very blessed to have Patrick Cripps , Marc Murphy & Sam Docherty drop in and see him at Royal Children’s Hospital. For people who know Ryder, you will know he doesn’t say too much .... but by all reports he talked their ears off and was ecstatic that the players called in to see him! This was a wonderful gesture by them and made Ryder’s day.

Some further highlights for Ryder this weekend was visiting St Kilda Beach and having his Nan, Sister Ruby and Brother Oliver down from Bendigo for a few days. It really is the simple things in life that give us the greatest pleasures.

Ryder will undergo more chemo this week with further tests on Friday and we ask everyone to keep Ryder in your thoughts and prayers ! With an army behind him I’m sure we can get this boy back to riding his scooter.

Thank you xxx
Alana & Ryan
