Justice for Kye Christopher Janssen

Earlier this year, a disturbing story came out of the Albany, Oregon area...

A local attorney resigned rather than defend herself against the complaints of sixteen of her former clients. This attorney ruined lives and legal cases, and caused untold harm to them and their finances.

My family was harmed by this attorney. She cost us tens of thousands in unnecessary legal fees and untold hours in lost parenting time. But this gofundme is not about my family...

I thought I knew the depth of her misconduct, having read nearly all of the complaints against her. But when the story about her resignation broke in the local paper, untold horror came to light.

The most disturbing story of all of her alleged victims is that of a little boy, Kye Christopher Janssen, and his mother, Blainey Elkins.

In early 2015, someone in this attorney's office forged Ms. Elkin's signature on a legal document which gave her "consent "for her child to be placed with a guardian.

That document and a petition for guardianship were filed by the attorney at the Linn County Circuit Court on January 9, 2015, and were signed the same day, without any hearing and without any evidence of the allegations made in the petition.

The temporary guardianship was made permanent five days later, again, without a hearing. No follow up papers appear on the record. No required check-ins with the guardian, no updates... nothing.

Ms. Elkins has not seen her son since. He is now four years old.

Ms. Elkins has been struggling to get someone -- anyone -- to listen to her urgent pleas. But nobody helped her, nobody believed her, nobody heard her. It is clear that the person who forged Ms. Elkin's signature knew that nobody would listen to Ms. Elkins.

Now that the attorney's actual reputation has caught up with her, people are listening. The crimes of forgery, false notarization, and false swearing have been reported to the local sheriff's office and the state attorney general. Hopefully, these crimes are taken seriously, fully investigated, and there are prosecutions that arise from this nightmare.

The guardianship can be undone via the attorney generals office, but it is unclear when or if that will happen. Justice can move very slowly.

In the meantime, Ms. Elkins needs to retain an attorney to undo the damage in the circuit court. The order appointing a permanent guardian can be vacated due to the fraud in the case, i.e. the forgery. But this cost money that Ms. Elkins does not have, having depleted her resources for years, spinning her wheels while nobody listened.

Please consider any donation to help reunite this beautiful boy with his loving mother, who has missed him terribly for more than three long years. It's unconscionable what happened to this family, and they urgently need our help. Peace.
