The Community Table initiative is run by the Rotary Club of Brisbane River City every week, providing hot meals, non-perishable food, toiletries and other supplies to people experiencing homelessness and poverty. I am a regular volunteer, assisting with preparing hot meals, packing supplies, and distributing meals and supplies to people who need them.
The last few years, I have fundraised to put together and donate Christmas goodie bags to bring some festive cheer to our friends experiencing poverty and homelessness. My goal is to supply 50 goodie bags containing:
♥️ a mini sunscreen, to help our friends on the streets stay safe in the Queensland sun
♥️ a pair of socks, to keep feet dry and cared for
♥️ a drink bottle, to stay hydrated on hot days
♥️ chocolate coins, mini gingerbreads and candy canes, to spread a little Christmas cheer
♥️ an essential contacts guide, to connect with support
To supply these (including the bags) will cost $375. That's just $7.50 per goodie bag to bring some Christmas cheer!
Donations over the target amount will go towards expanding the inclusions to add additional items (such as hats, hand sanitiser) and expand supply to sister organisations (such as CUDL, to whom we provide meals for distribution through our Community Table initiative).
Last year, our friends loved the goodie bags you helped us to provide ♥️
Please note, this fundraiser is not run by the Rotary Club of Brisbane River City, nor officially affiliated with them, it is my own initiative.
