River’s Journey
my friend Devon is a single mother of now 2. Her first boy is 5 and she recently gave birth to her second son, River. Devon is brave, strong, and independent. She works so hard to provide for her family. River was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and has not been out of the hospital since he was born on 1/27/2021. For those of you who don’t know what CF is, it is a life threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system. It affects the cells that produce mucus, sweat and digestive juices and it causes these fluids to become thick and sticky. They then plug up tubes, ducts and passageways.
He will be in and out of the hospital for a while so I am starting this to help Devon with some costs. I told her to start it but her response was “I feel to selfish asking for help while we are in the middle of a pandemic”. I know the pandemic has not been easy for anyone. But if you canI ask that you consider donating to this to help. I know a lot of you don’t know her- but if you can’t donate financially, please donate prayerfully.

River Corey
My healthy baby boy born 1/27/2021 at 9 pm 8 lbs 6.5 ounces. 2 days later we were ready to go home but I was discharged and he wasn’t. He was transported by ambulance to USA Children and Women’s hospital when an x ray showed his intestines were extremely huge from a blockage. 1/30 he went in for a 3 hour surgery and they found a twist in his colon which we now have to make sure works correctly. With more tests he also came back positive for Cystic Fibrosis. I have taken time to spend with my family, process things a day at a time, and figure out where we go next. I know everyone has so many questions and I just don’t have the answers. I’ve kept private about this for the sole reason that every time my phone goes off, my heart stops thinking it’s the NICU calling with updates. I have also chosen to keep pictures and things off of social media for now but I know so many of you reached out during my pregnancy and I disappeared so I wanted to share just two with you all. Nothing can prepare you for having a healthy baby and leaving the hospital with an empty car seat and it has taken a toll mentally. River is doing really well and all we ask is that you continue to pray for our little family. He is so strong and he is so loved. I will continue to update when I know more and please don’t take offense that I’m not responding to messages. This has been a lot and my attention has been on Liam and River. We love you all.
