Help Two Children Orphaned by Domestic Violence
My beautiful, vibrant niece Leah Anders was recently shot and killed by her boyfriend, who was also the father of her two children, Omar and Kevin. We are not completely sure what happened, but we do know that he had been fighting with her for three days before he killed her on Valentine's Day.
He shot her and two other people. One of Leah's friends also died, while the other was merely grazed by the bullet. The shooter is now imprisoned and awaiting trial.
The lives of their toddler and infant were thankfully spared, but the babies are now essentially orphaned because their mother is dead at the hands of their father.
As my family struggles to come to terms with the loss of this amazing person in our lives, we must also try to provide for her two babies. As of now Leah’s aunt has taken the kids in. However, this is a large and unexpected financial burden for her, and it hits especially hard as she is also mourning the loss of her beloved niece.
We would be deeply grateful for any donations you could spare, and they will go directly to improving the lives of the two children. In the short run, we're simply looking to cover the material necessities small kids need, but in the longer run, we're hoping to give her aunt enough stability to get back on her feet, and help give these kids the best she can. She believed her child-raising days were behind her, and now finds herself raising two children who have lost their mother in the most unimaginable way. We're not sure what they will need to heal from such a traumatic loss, but we're committed to doing whatever we can to give them the best life possible, given the circumstances.
