Hey there, I’ve started this fundraiser to help my brother, Markus and sister-in-law, Rachel whose 7-month-old son, Cullen, was diagnosed with Megakaryocytic leukemia, which is a type of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) at the beginning of December 2022. Sweet Cullen started chemotherapy treatments along with his second long hospital stay Tuesday, December 27th, just two days after Christmas. He will be at the hospital for a minimum of 21 days followed by 7 days at home if things are going well. This process will continue to repeat for a minimum of 6 to 8 months depending on how Cullen responds to the chemo. Markus, Rachel, and baby Cullen have a long road ahead with ongoing hospital stays. For this reason, they will be renting an apartment near the hospital to be closer to baby Cullen at all times. This housing transition, while very much needed will also greatly increase their monthly rent which in turn will increase the already enormous amount of stress both Markus and Rachel are experiencing and will continue to experience for quite some time. Due to the increased amounts of doctor visits and hospital stays, they have also lost several hours of work time which has been an increased hardship on their finances and mounting bills and will continue to be throughout the next several months of baby Cullens' journey with leukemia. The mounting bills include things such as household bills, medical bills, car payments and childcare for their toddler at home. We are all heartbroken at the news and want to help by decreasing the financial strain this has placed on them through this very challenging season. Every amount helps.
