Junior 500 Race for Ele's Place

Lambda Chi Alpha is proud to present that the Junior 500 Philanthropy Week is back for the second year running! This philanthropy event is one rich in history specific to the East Lansing and Michigan State University communities. The event was originally hosted by Lambda Chi Alpha from the 1940s through the 1990s, drawing crowds of approximately 13,000 people in its prime and exciting a huge buzz among locals and students alike. With the exceptional effort from our active brothers, officers, and alumni, we have been able to succesfully restore the Junior 500 philanthropy week and continue to strive to make it bigger and better! The Junior 500 event has been incorporated into a philanthropy effort that will span a 4-day period this fall. There will be various events through the span of the week that will serve to raise money and awareness for philanthropy, engage students and locals into the cause, and serve as a fun opportunity to help those in need.
Like last year, Lambda Chi Alpha will be partnering with Ele’s Place in the Lansing area. Ele’s Place is a center that offers counseling and other services to children and young adults who are coping with or preparing for the loss of a parent. Every $500 raised through the event will sponsor a child with counseling and grieving services for an entire year. Last year we were able to sponsor 27 kids! The Junior 500 Races will take place on Saturday, October 10th. The event, devised as a box car race, will serve to engage student organizations, locals, and businesses that are deeply rooted in the East Lansing community in a collected effort for Ele's Place. With competition being split into various heats and divisions, teams will compete to be dubbed the Junior 500 Champions.
Last year we were able to raise $15,000 through our efforts. This year, with your help, it is our goal to raise $20,000 for such a deserving organization. Please join in our efforts and make a difference in a child's life.
If donating on behalf of a participant in a Greek letter organization, please be sure to specify which sorority or fraternity you are donating on behalf of so that the house can get the proper recognition. Your support is what will make this event a huge success. Thank you!
