Hello everyone,

I'm not going to pretend I am very good at writing these things. I don't like asking for help and dislike it even more when it comes to my ability to provide as a mother but here I am.

I am a single parent to three amazing children who deserve nothing less then the world and I would like to give them that starting by making our house the home it once was. Our story starts a little over a year ago when a burst pipe flooded our home causing us to loose our entire first floor and second floor bathroom, due to the water damage we lost our floors, walls, cabinets, appliances, toys, entire wardrobes worth of clothing, school supplies, etc. To say our lives were turned upside down is an understatement, and to make matters worse I was out of work due to my middle son's frequent hospitalizations and health concerns. During that time we stayed in at friends homes or hotel rooms graciously provided to us by friends before making the difficult decision to temporarily move in with family.

Despite having home insurance it unfortunately my coverage only covered up to 10,000 worth of damage and the clean-up costs alone were over 18,000. I have spent the time between the flood and now trying to fix our home, reaching out to organizations that could possibly help, pleading with city officials to find programs that might offer assistance with no luck.

I thought I had finally found the light at the end of this incredibly long tunnel when I earned my bachelors degree after 10 years and received my dream job which allowed me to work from home and take care of my 6 year old during his hospitalizations, specialist appointments and take my other children to their various therapy and doctor appointments without it affecting my ability to complete all of my tasks. Unfortunately, this was not the case and due to a budget crisis my roll in the office was cut causing me to be laid off.

This is all to say that I am now at my last resort and asking for help, not for me but for my children. We are living in a home that barely functions as a home. We use our bathtub to wash dishes due to a lack of any sinks. Our refrigerator door is broken and doesn't close properly. We have our cement foundation as flooring and with the cold months quickly approaching I am terrified to think of what our heating bills will look like. I want to provide my children with a home environment that is safe and for anyone who knows me they know how appreciative I am of any help I might receive.
