As most of you who know me, my name Is Kalani Young, my wife for most of those who know her is Taeyyler, a woman I was so lucky to have met and saves my life everyday from myself, we also have two of the most wonderful children I could ever ask for and I have a pretty amazing mother-in-law that supports every decision I make for her daughter. We all live currently together in a two bedroom apartment. I work in healthcare as a patient transporter for Radiology for the time being and having to support five people, it is difficult to keep ahead. My 3 year old Daughter, Romie, was born with Autism. She has extreme anxiety and gets extremely nervous if left alone with new people to the point of hyperventilation. Her mother is the center of her world which makes it very difficult for my wife to go to work at the moment, specially with her being out of school and services during Covid. My mother-in-law fell under disability awhile back and is unable to watch the kids for too long, specially my little boy Journi who is 9 months old and requires a LOT of attention. All those things being, I am currently the only one working and supporting a family of five.
My wife and I together planned on moving up North to Oregon to what we imagined would be a better place to live and raise a family. One of the main reasons being the opportunities for Romie, as they have more services for her autism. We've been on this pursuit for years and finally after saving up enough money we were able to take our first step in buying our first reliable vehicle. However a week into owning the car, it overheated. Of course we made several attempts to get in contact with the ones that sold us the vehicle but we got no reply back. A good mechanic friend of ours offered to help fix our car and after all the work and money we have already put into it he called with more bad news. The engine was completely ruined due to a fluid leak from the previous owners and will cost addition money to buy a new engine. This crushed us. We felt stupid, used, and hopeless that we had allowed ourselves to have been scammed. We have exhausted all of our savings that we had set aside to finally move. Our lawyer told us it was a lost cause. I cant explain as the man of the family how many times I have cried to my wife recently feeling as if I have failed.
A few friends offered us money after hearing our story. One even suggested a GoFundMe which I felt ridiculous doing and decided against it. Finally, a co-worker and friend pulled me aside and told me she heard my story. She felt it. She's lived it. She explained to me that asking and accepting help is what it means to be human. She, and many others explained that I had their support and backing if I created a GoFundMe and would contribute if I did so. I once again wanted to cry because never in my life have I had so much support from so many friends and family and it felt unbelievable. So here I am. I'm asking for your support. We WILL provide proof of where the money will go to. I understand there is so much going on in the world right now that is far more important and the Covid situation has most peoples money tight and if you cannot contribute, your support is already more than we deserve and I want to say thank you. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your love. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I truly love you all.
