This year, I’m taking part in the Bedford Running Festival to raise money for PBIC and their ESOL classes for migrants (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
At PBIC, the mission is to support migrants to settle, achieve, and contribute in the UK. But without access to English, many people are unable to work, study, or feel part of the community. This is especially true for those who are isolated or have experiences of trauma.
Last year, PBIC volunteers and staff raised £3,720 by running this event. That money, together with support from Bedford Borough Council who recognised our efforts and contributed additional funds, helped fund 9 English courses for 118 learners. These courses gave vulnerable migrants the opportunity to develop their skills and the confidence needed to move forward in life.
But the need hasn’t gone away. Right now, 97 people are still waiting for a place in class.
This year, I’m running to help change that and enable the continued delivery of ESOL at PBIC. Every pound I raise will go directly toward providing more free ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) lessons for those who need them most.
Please consider donating. Every contribution, big or small, helps open a door to a brighter future.
Thank you.
