Hello Curious Human,
We’re in the middle of a housing crisis—everywhere. Rent keeps climbing, land feels out of reach, and too many people are stuck or priced out of their own communities.
I’ve seen it firsthand, and I’m building something tangible to challenge that reality.
Introducing: Nimble Nest — Modular Zome Cabins
Nimble Nest is my new venture under the Project Zero Circular Economy Incubator, and the first company selected from outside Metro Vancouver.
We’ve secured mentorship, are developing a full business plan, and will be presenting to investors at the end of the program in December 2025.
On top of that, the project has been chosen by UBC’s Capstone Engineering Program, meaning two teams of six engineering students are collaborating with me to refine the structural and material innovations until April 2026.
This campaign’s goal: fund the prototyping phase during this winter — to build and test a full-scale, insulated Zome shell.
The outcome: an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) that can be demonstrated to investors, municipalities, and partners next year.
Why This Prototype Matters
This isn’t about a single cabin; it’s about validating a modular system designed for affordability, speed, and sustainability.
Each prototype helps refine the geometry, insulation, and assembly method to create scalable, zero-footprint structures made from Canadian materials.
These Zomes are designed to be:
Modular: Start small, expand later—bedroom, sauna, office pod, greenhouse. And panels are interchangeable.
Sustainable: Natural insulation options, passive solar design, and off-grid compatibility.
Efficient: Assembles in hours, with no heavy machinery or specialized crew.
Healthy: Daylight, airflow, and non-toxic interiors designed for human comfort in all 4 seasons.
Once complete, the prototype will serve as the demonstration unit—a functional model for investors and municipalities to evaluate its real-world performance and potential.
How You Can Help
1. Contribute
Every dollar goes directly into materials for the prototype shell.
2. Share
Send this to someone who cares about housing, design, or sustainability.
3. Believe
Support helps bridge the gap between vision and proof. This is about showing what’s possible when craftsmanship meets innovation.
Why $12K?
$12K isn’t for a finished home—it’s the cost of a testable, weatherproof shell.
This phase allows us to measure insulation performance, assembly time, and energy use.
It’s the step that turns sketches into an investment-ready product.
If additional funds are raised, they’ll go toward interior finishing, heating systems, and documentation—accelerating how quickly we can present the MVP to investors.
Transparency & Next Steps
Every stage—from design to performance testing—will be documented and shared publicly.
This is open-source innovation: data, materials, and lessons that others can build upon.
By spring, the prototype will serve as a physical showcase to attract partnerships and secure the next funding round for Nimble Nest’s commercialization phase.
What is a “Zome”?
A Zome is a geometric structure built from diamond-shaped panels, combining the strength of domes with the harmony of sacred geometry.
It’s lightweight, energy-efficient, modular, and uplifting to stand inside—where form and function meet nature’s math.
Who’s Behind Nimble Nest?
I’m Jeremie Gurvan, a Designer and Builder with 18 years of experience in timber framing, restoration, and eco-design.
In recently I’ve developed several smaller Zome prototypes—a greenhouse and multiple 12' and 20' diameter frames.
This winter’s prototype is the next step: a fully enclosed, insulated cabin shell built to validate the system’s performance.
What If It Fails?
Then we learn—and share everything learned.
That’s how innovation works. The insights, data, and improvements from this prototype will push the next generation of modular, sustainable housing forward.
Let’s build proof—not promises.
Let’s show that beauty, efficiency, and sustainability can come together in a single, scalable design.
With gratitude (and sawdust on my sleeves),
Gurvan
