HeyMy name is Corey Willis, I am a mother to 4 amazing (and crazy) children. I have been racking my brain to figure out what I want to write. So I’ll start with saying I’m sorry for making you read a book lol. As some of you may know, when I was pregnant with my twin girls I was diagnosed with twin to twin transfusion syndrome. Which basically means one twin was getting too many nutrients (stealing from the other twin) while the other twin wasn’t getting any. When they caught this, Lanie was almost 3lbs and Zoey wasn’t even a pound. By the grace of God and amazing doctors, they caught it and were able to reverse the damage for the most part. There was a chance the the donor twin (Zoey) would have learning problems when she got older. I took her to a specialist in Missoula and she was diagnosed with dysexecutive syndrome/ executive dysfunction, which according to the doctor simply means she’s 9 right now, but mentally she’s 4-5. She has trouble with her memory, her brain doesn’t process information the way it should, and other things that I have attached so you can kind of read what I’m talking about (sorry if they’re sideways!) Zoey is a sweet, caring, independent, hot headed girl that I love with all my heart, and I cry all the time because I can’t help her. I hate asking for help but I am at a loss. The doctor said if we don’t do something and soon, then Zoey will always have to have help, she will have to be on assistance, and may never be able to hold a job. Insurance won’t cover the procedure that the specialist says will help, because the specialist that diagnosed her won’t be the one hooking her up for the procedure. He will only be reading the results, and I was told by the insurance company that they view it as a cosmetic procedure. The reason I’m asking for so much is because it costs about $4,000, plus having to drive over and stay. The closest place they do the treatment is in Missoula, MT and it is 30 sessions, once a week with the possibility of being able to do 2 sessions in one day, but that still means we would have to travel to Missoula 15 times, and stay the night because it would need to start first thing in the mornings if we were to do 2 sessions a day. If you can help in any way I would greatly appreciate it.
