Smith Family Completion: Part 1
Donation protected
And so it begins…
God has laid it on our hearts to expand our family through international adoption! We are excited to see God continue His work in and through our family!
We have always had the desire to complete our family through adoption, and only in the last six months has God unmistakably shown us that now is the time! We attended an adoption fair where we were able to connect with multiple families who gave us more information and encouragement than we ever dreamed possible! He opened our eyes to special needs adoption, and showed us a part of ourselves that we didn’t know… our compassion for the kids with skin conditions, missing or deformed limbs, and hearing and sight disabilities. These kids were born with labels that likely orphaned them, but these labels do not define the child; God defines them. Since discovering our heart for the disabled, we've been incredibly excited to be the physical representation of God's defining love in the lives of these kids.
We have been praying for God to reveal to us which countries our kids are coming from. Kyrgyzstan and Ghana are the answer. Two countries which people do not think of when they think ‘international adoption’. How did we come about them? Only God can tell you that. We didn’t even know Kyrgyzstan was a place until we began to research adoption, but when it came up, it stuck with us. We learned that Kyrgyzstan had been closed to adoptions, and as of 2014, it has opened again! So, we have decided to start off our adoptions with Kyrgyzstan.
International adoptions have a plethora of financial obligations, and with each phase of the adoption come a new set of financial dues. The entire adoption for one child overseas costs anywhere between $30,000 and $48,000. Of that amount, we need an immediate $2,500 to complete our home study.
We are asking three things of you:
1. For the financial support of our adoption from Kyrgyzstan.
2. For the prayerful support of our journey through the process.
And
3. For you to SPREAD THE WORD!
Thank you in advance for your contribution and getting us closer to the day we bring our kids home to Colorado!
Sincerely,
Zebadiah, Lauren and Zakiah
THE PUZZLE
Here’s how your financial giving works:
For every $100 you donate to our adoption, we will write your name on a puzzle piece and assemble the puzzle as we receive donations. When the puzzle is complete, our first adoption will be fully funded!
You can of course donate less, and we will combine your donation with others on a shared puzzle piece.
You can donate online, as well as by mail! Just contact us if you prefer to mail a check, and we will give you our mailing address!
Not only will this puzzle serve as a visual for our progress towards completing our adoption, but it will also be framed and placed above our daughter’s bed as a reminder of all the people that worked together to bring her home.
We look forward to displaying your support in our home!
