Zinnia Jones Laptop to Fight for the Trans Future!

Hi, I'm Zinnia (Lauren) Jones (she/her). I'm a long-time trans researcher, writer and activist at the blog Gender Analysis, currently living around Orlando, Florida with my wife and sons, and working to assist within the trans community and organize against all ongoing and potential risks. I've previously contributed to Assigned Media, Xtra Magazine, An Injustice!, Autostraddle, Huffington Post, and publications by Dara Hoffman-Fox LPC and in Opposing Viewpoints: Behavioral Disorders (Greenhaven). I've also had the pleasure of speaking at Social Justice Calgary, Women in Secularism 3, and the Florida Secular Rally, as well as representing Chelsea Manning in her stead as a marshal at SF Pride 2014.

Now, I need a new laptop. My current laptop is more than two years old and is sluggish beyond reasonable usability and lags substantially on a daily basis. The amount of time I have to wait for most applications to load is now significantly taking away from the time to do my work. Additionally, recent and expected ongoing policy developments will significantly increase the pace and volume of my daily research and organizing work beyond the current load, and my computer will not be able to keep up with what's coming.

I need a laptop that's both reasonably priced and completely capable with keeping up for the needs of at least the next two years; I treat hardware well and I make it last. I've decided that $1,300 is an appropriate mark to set which balances these needs. If you help support me in upgrading my system, I promise you I will continue to work fervently every single day to do everything I can to aid the trans community through the challenges ahead. I've fought for us for 13 years. I'm ready to fight for us now.
