An Update from Jessie’s Mummy
As we approach the final three months of Jessie’s cancer treatment, I’ve been reflecting on just how far she has come and how many incredible people have carried us through this journey
Because of your overwhelming kindness and generosity, we have raised enough money for Jessie to fulfil her dream of visiting Walt Disney World in Florida when she is well enough
To know that she will get that magical experience after everything she has endured means more to us than words can say. Thank you for making that possible
But as we near the end of Jessie’s treatment, it feels clear that Jessie’s Journey was never meant to be just about Jessie
When your child is diagnosed with cancer, your world stops. The future becomes uncertain overnight. You quickly learn that you cannot live in “what if” you have to live in the now. You hold your family closer. You treasure the smallest moments. You realise that making memories together isn’t a luxury, it’s everything
That is why we are now turning our focus towards helping other families here in the Midlands who are currently going through active cancer treatment with their children
Our goal is to provide safe, clean, secure and fully functional holiday homes across the Midlands. Places where families can step away from hospital appointments, treatment schedules and the constant worry. Somewhere they can just be a family again. Somewhere they can laugh, rest, reconnect and create precious memories together
Because when you’re facing childhood cancer, you don’t know what the future holds. But you can choose to make today count
We are also incredibly proud to share that Jessie’s Journey is now an official registered charity! ️
This is such an important milestone for us, and it allows us to think bigger!
With this new chapter comes a new goal. We have increased our fundraising target to £50,000. We truly hope there is a business, an individual, or a collective of supporters who believe in this vision and want to help us bring it to life
This isn’t just about holidays.
It’s about giving families the gift of time.
The gift of space.
The gift of making memories when it matters most
And that is something you simply cannot put a price on
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for standing beside us. Jessie’s Journey started with our daughter, but together, we can make it a lifeline for so many other families
With love and gratitude,
Jessie’s Mummy
6-month update 6/10/24 -
October 6-month update :)
So today marks 6 months of Jessie's battle with Leukaemia. It's been a battle for everyone involved, and Jessie is the one who gives us the strength every day to be positive and carry on!
Luke and I have decided to mark this date by informing you all that Jessie's Journey will become a charity in 2025.
Why? Because on this journey we have had the most incredible support from an army of family and friends, we are so lucky to have you all. We have also witnessed first-hand that not everyone gets this same support, especially siblings. Luke and I are currently generating many ideas as to how we support siblings and families to navigate this horrendous and life changing journey.
We are moving the £5K goalposts as this is more than a once in a lifetime holiday for our family to Disney, it's about making a difference in the world, and we want to make that difference!
LETS GO!!!!!!
On the 6th April 2024, we received the absolutely heartbreaking news that our beautiful, amazing 3 year old daughter Jessie had been diagnosed with ALL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, which is a rare type of cancer which affects the blood and bone marrow. Jessie has already started the gruelling journey of chemotherapy, which will last for 2.5 years in order to prevent relapse at a later stage.
This means for the next 2.5 years Jessie’s world will be completely turned upside down with fundamental changes and missed opportunities, including nursery adventures, first moments such as first day at school, school days in reception and year one, family holidays, play dates with friends and family but ultimately a huge impact upon her and her family’s life.
Danielle, Luke, Jack and Max have already experienced the physical and emotional trauma and loss of their daughter/sisters phenomenal personality and for those who know and love Jessie will understand this is the hardest and most devastating experience they have to endure. We long for her to laugh hard and be the cheeky mischievous beautiful little Jessie once again.
Jessie has THE MOST AMAZING family around her and together with us as friends, family, colleagues, neighbours and supporters, we are going to help Jessie, Max, Jack, Luke and Danielle live the life they so much deserve and create opportunity and normality as best we can throughout the toughest journey ahead.
Jessie's journey is a long one, but we are all walking that journey with her, supporting and cheering her on every step of the way.
