Hi, My name is Nahum and I have an amazing opportunity to serve people through the performing arts with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Boston Massachusetts. I want to share with you why I feel like God has called me to work with YWAM.
Recently, I was at church and the sermon was about obedience. The entire week before, I was having anxiety about what I’m going to do with my life and didn’t give my anxiety and my future to God. As I was listening to the sermon and I felt the Spirit say “Nahum I’m not human I can’t let you down. If you take the leap of faith, what I have for you will bring immense joy.”
The talk of YWAM had come up several times and I brushed it off. The next day, I was listening to an app with guided prayer and meditation. The voice that was guiding me through this meditation said, ”Ask god your questions with an open mind and an open heart…Listen.” So I surrendered, and asked, ”I need to know…is YWAM this year?” Not long after that I felt God lead me to read Psalms 19, so I did! The section that I felt he was trying to tell me was:
The revelation of God is whole and pulls our lives together. The signposts of God are clear and point out the right road. The life maps of God are right, showing the way to joy. The directions of God are plain and easy on the eyes. God’s reputation is twenty-four-carat gold, with a lifetime guarantee. The decisions of God are accurate down to the nth degree. God’s Word is better than a diamond, better than a diamond set between emeralds. You’ll like it better than strawberries in spring, better than red, ripe strawberries. Psalms 19:7-10 MSG
My favorite fruit is strawberries! I felt like God was saying “I’m talking to you.” There was so much confirmation in this passage of scripture and this is my first time reading it!
During my time in Boston, there will 2 parts of my day. First, I will be in class, listening to lectures about Identity, World Missions, Worship, Jesus, the Father heart of God, Evangelism, Hearing the voice of God, and many more!
Second, I have an elective class; I have chosen dance as my elective. So I will be rehearsing their show “Encounter”, using performing and visual arts. It's a 90 min show, portraying the gospel. After 3 months of rehearsals in Boston, we will be performing this performance across the country for 6 weeks. Finally, my time will end with a 2-week mission trip to El Salvador to do street missions.
These funds will cover room/board, touring travel expenses, and my trip to El Salvador. I am asking for you to partner with me in prayer and/or financial support as I prepare for this endeavor. I believe with God, all things are possible. Thank you for allowing me to tell my story.
