My name is Amran Abdi Mahamud. I am a Somali mother who has spent the last 8 years fighting the German legal system to bring my son home.
## What Happened
In 2017, I lost custody of my two children. I was young, newly arrived in Germany, and couldn't navigate the language or the legal system. The court ruled neither the father nor I could take responsibility. My children were placed in foster care (Pflegeheim).
For years, I could only see them twice a week for a few hours.
## What I Did
I refused to give up. I:
- Learned German
- Saved every penny for a private lawyer
- Went back to court alone
- Won a partial victory: the court agreed I could have my older child back
## Where I Am Now
I have proven myself. The court has ruled in my favor. But there is one final barrier: I must pay the remaining legal fees to complete the process and bring my son home from the camp where he is still being held.
To meet the court's requirements, I can now only work one job. On a single income, I cannot afford the final legal costs.
**My son is waiting. I am so close, but I cannot cross this final step alone.**
## How You Can Help
Your donation will go directly to the legal fees required to complete the court process. Every euro brings us closer to being a family again.
I have fought through grief, language barriers, and a system I didn't understand. Please help me finish this fight.
With hope and determination,
Amran Abdi Mahamud.
