Zelda Briarwood is running for NC District 11's seat in Congress. Zelda's career in experiential education, wilderness therapy, crisis services, case management, and Victim's Service has instilled in her the strength to advocate for her clients. Now, she wants to advocate for all of WNC.
- Zelda's campaign focuses first and foremost on the People. Zelda believes in public service over political theatre. Zelda wants all elected officials to be held accountable by their constituents through Votes of No Confidence, which she gladly holds herself to and will honor if elected.
- Zelda believes that EVERYONE is entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, which she wants amended into the constitution.
- Zelda believes that politicians should be barred from insider trading, corporations should answer to the will of the People, the ultra-rich should be taxed properly, social services are the safety net of the People, and that Americans DESERVE to have their basic needs met.
- Zelda's campaign is as grassroots as it gets. She has spent the last 2 years traveling all across WNC, being among its communities, and talking with the People. In the aftermath of Helene, Zelda worked round the clock to get WNC's banks up and running, earning her the Servant Leadership Award at her place of work, Quality Data Systems.
- Zelda felt that the camaraderie in the wake of both Helene and the wildfires was a prime example of what makes WNC strong. Zelda wants this to be the new norm.
Zelda vows to put people over party and public service over political theatre. Zelda will bring accountability, advocacy, and authenticity back into the expectations of those who are chosen by the People to represent the People.
