Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
Recently, our family was shaken by a devastating event. On July 23rd, my 18-year-old nephew, Jack, was brutally assaulted, leaving him with a traumatic brain injury and a long road to recovery. The attack changed everything in an instant. Jack was rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma, where we spent days not knowing if he would wake up. Miraculously, he has now emerged from the coma and begun the slow, difficult process of healing. His recovery will involve extensive rehabilitation, both physical and cognitive, and while the path ahead is uncertain, we are holding onto hope with every step forward.
While we’re incredibly grateful that Jack is making progress every day, the financial impact on my sister and her family is growing. As a self-employed personal chef in Saskatoon, she’s lost all of her income since Jack’s assault. If you know her, you know she’s one of the hardest-working people around, pouring her heart into both her craft and her family. She’s had to put her business on hold to be by Jack’s side every step of the way.
Insurance support is expected in the coming days, but it won’t arrive soon enough to cover the income lost over July and August, or any additional care expenses Jack will need starting in September. That’s why we’ve launched this fundraiser—to help ease the financial strain and give her the space to focus entirely on her son’s healing. Her quiet strength and tireless devotion speak volumes about the kind of mom she is, and right now, Jack needs her by his side as he walks the long road of recovery.
Whether you can donate or simply share this message, we are deeply grateful. Every act of kindness helps Jack’s journey home.
