Defibrillator fundraiser for Holy Year Cross
Donation protected
We need your help, we are looking to raise much needed funds to purchase a defibrillator for the Holy Year cross committee,
Here’s a scary fact... anyone can have a cardiac arrest, at any time. Often there are no obvious risk factors. An estimated 6,000 people a year have one in Ireland. And here’s another scary fact... for every minute it takes to find a defibrillator and shock a person in cardiac arrest, their chances of survival reduce by 10%. With CPR and defibrillation, chances of survival can increase ten-fold. That means people often ask how much does a defibrillator cost in Ireland, to see if they can afford one to help a medical emergency. Prices range from €1000-€2000 so we are turning to fundraising to cover the costs,
Liam Ahearne suffered a cardiac arrest at the Holy Year Cross in August, and thanks to the quick thinking of John Walsh who had a defibrillator with him Liam's life was saved,
We are now trying to raise funds so the Holy Year Cross committee can have their own defibrillator if this every happens again,
All donations greatly appreciated to help this worthy cause,
Nobody ever know when this life saving device will be needed as sudden cardiac arrest can happen at anytime without warning,
