Ralph’s Recovery

As many of you know my dad was recently admitted to hospital with Covid. He had breathing complications and it led to pneumonia. He was immediately taken into ICU. The doctors at Valley Regional said that it’s the worst case of covid that they’ve seen since the pandemic 3 years ago. It has been a very stressful 2 weeks we thought we were going to lose him at one point. He’s been heavily sedated and we haven’t been able to visit him up until today. He has had his tubes removed and I can happily announce that he is on the road to recovery and making good progress with his breathing. It will be a slow process and we know he has a ways to go but we are so happy he has made it this far. Seeing him today brought tears to my eyes and I feared that this day would not come. He feels very lucky to be here and is so thankful for all the staff at VRH not to mention all the lovely messages from people wishing him well and praying for him. But my dad being my dad is worrying about getting back to normal so that he can work. My mum and I want him to make a full recovery and don’t want him getting extra stress that he doesn’t need on top of getting better.

I have started a go fund me to help with his recovery as we don’t know how long it will be before they are able to work again. My parents should be retired at this time in their lives but my dad is still working hard!
