Zai Journey To The English National Ballet School

Embarking on his dancing journey at the age of 7, Zai Calliste was immediately drawn to the precision and prowess of dance movement, the diversity of dance styles, the artistry, and the power of expression through the body that dance afforded him.

Ten years on, and after dedicating countless hours developing, learning and honing his skills combined with his drive to succeed, Zai vehemently decided to embark on a career in classical dance. This unwavering tenacity, dedication, passion and commitment to his love of dance has seen Zai accepted into the English National Ballet School in London, commencing in September 2022.

To help Zai fulfil his goal of attending the English National Ballet School, we ask for your help raising funds to send him on his way. The money raised will be a significant stepping stone in securing his flights, insurance and uniforms.

As Alexander Pushkin quotes, “Ballet is a dance executed by the human soul” - Zai dances with his soul. He uses dance as his vehicle to embrace what it is to know the world, express his presence and capture the physical universe in which we live. Zai has an innate ability to connect with his audience, exhibiting charisma on and off stage.

Dance for Zai is an expression of something deep within, and this permeates his every performance. He views dance as both intensely personal and externally expressive. It is the marriage between personal fulfilment and external expressions of joy.
