Nikola je na rutinskom sistematskom pregledu, kada su se u analizama krvi pokazale visoke vrednosti kreatinina i uree saznao za svoju bolest. Tom prilikom dijagnostikovana mu je hronična bubrežna insuficijencija uz propratne dijagnoze Anemia sec. i Osteodystrophia renalis.
Usled takvih rezultata odmah je hospitalizovan na odeljenju nefrologije u Kragujevcu u oktobru 2020. godine. Dve godine je uspevao da drži bolest pod kontrolom, ali se vrednosti nisu smanjivale što je ukazivalo na još veće otkazivanje bubrega.
U junu 2022. godine ugrađena mu je AV fistula, jer se približavao dan kada će krenuti na dijalizu. Tada je uradio potrebne analize radi transplatacije, koju je nameravao da uradi na VMA gde bi mu majka bila donor. Transplantacija je odbijena jer je majci dijagnostikovan dijabetes tipa 2 zbog čega je Nikola prinuđen da transplantaciju obavi u inostranstvu.
Nikoli teško pada jer ne može da koristi levu ruku koja mu je nakon dijalize otečena, sa popucalim kapilarima i sposobnost njenog korišćenja je ograničena.

Nikola found out about his disease during a routine systematic examination when blood tests showed high levels of creatinine and urea. On that occasion, he was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure with accompanying diagnoses of Anemia sec. and Osteodystrophia renal.
Due to such results, he was immediately hospitalized at the nephrology department in Kragujevac in October 2020. For two years, he managed to keep the disease under control, but the values did not decrease, which indicated an even greater failure of the kidneys.
In June 2022, he had an AV fistula implanted, because the day when he would start dialysis was approaching. Then he did the necessary analyzes for the transplantation, which he intended to do at the VMA, where his mother would be the donor. The transplant was rejected because the mother was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, which is why Nikola was forced to perform the transplant abroad.
Nikoli has a hard time because he cannot use his left hand, which after dialysis is swollen, with broken capillaries, and his ability to use it is limited.
