So this is the 1st time we have ever done this and to be honest, I hope it's done right. It's crazy to think that you can go about your days just clueless of what's really going on in your body. Even if you get routine check ups with your Dr and always take great care of yourself.
Most of you know my sister Carmen Febo. For those of you who don't, she is a hard working very loving mother, sister, friend, and daughter.
Carmen will do absolutely anything for you if she sees you in need. She didn't think twice when it was time for me to deploy and I needed someone to help raise my boys. She became a mom to them No questions asked.
She spent most of her life in the medical field. As well as worked all through Covid. These are just very small ways of how she was a hero in Disguise.
Coming home and being with her girls was truly the highlight of her days and nights.
As I'm sure it is for most of us that have kids/families. Know imagine that you try with every bit of your heart to gather the strength to play or try to help with homework or even just to sit and talk with your kids but you couldn't. Carmen would find it so difficult to do anything towards the end yet NO DR could find what was wrong.
As I mentioned before my sister works in the medical field and she worked for a great team who was able to guide her in the right direction. It was bitter sweet, on one hand she was finally able to find out what exactly was going on with her and on the other hand she was able to find out EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG and why she was feeling the was she was feeling.
Colon Cancer was her Diagnosis Stage 3 aggressive. I can only imagine she probably went through her own stages, Anger, Lost, Confusion, Fear and Empowerment. Those are all of the feelings I think I would go through, and I'm sure a few more.
Just to now have to break the news to her partner and her children, not to mention her parents and siblings.
That mommy has to have emergency surgery to have a bag on the side of her body and start going to the Dr everyday.
No one really expects it or plans it. It's definitely not something that you mark on your calendar to talk about or plan for the future to save. I guess you think that's what insurance is for. HA HA HA Let's just say we don't have time for that story.
So my sister Carmen hasn't been working since Dec 2021, they have a mortgage and her partner is currently the only income in the house and has been for the last 8 months. I help whenever possible as well as my parents but we are both veterans on fixed-income. Also we both take turns traveling to help with the care of my sister and the girls. I drive from Kissimmee to Miami and My mom drives from Lake PLACID to Miami.
With Carmen's condition she has needed help with care for herself going to her treatments everyday as well as her Dr's appointments and help with caring for her 2 daughters.
Danny her partner is working long hours, Carmen has been in radiation/chemotherapy, hydration therapy and several other Dr appointments that she has to see that requires a co pay at every vist M-F.
They also have their every month bills that just keep pilling up. And now add this medical debt and don't forget you always have your occasional AC break down. Well they absolutely did. My sister hasn't started working, I'm just hoping to find her a little bit of help. Because we all know that every little bit helps and goes a long way.
Like I mentioned in the beginning I'm not sure if I did this right but we appreciate you all and thank you so much for all of the Love and support you show our family.
