Help Young Single Mother and Child Survive

Donation protected

I’m writing this on behalf of my friend Hafsah. Hafsah is a single mother who lives in Indonesia. Upon finding out she was pregnant outside of marriage, Hafsah’s family disowned her. To make matters worse, the baby’s father disappeared, wanting no responsibility and nothing to do with her and the baby. Pregnant, alone and with nowhere to turn, she ended up on the street, sleeping in parking lots, and starving.

At 70 lbs she met a friend who helped her get into a single room where she could stay, set up a PayPal and recommended she reach out on Instagram to the pro-life community. That’s where I met her (since then I’ve verified all of this is true). She reached out as much as possible to pro-life groups but sadly there’s no pregnancy centers or maternity homes where she is in Indonesia. The culture is so, so, different there.

Without any support from family or friends, she feels desperate and alone most of the time just trying to survive day by day. Furthermore, she’s unemployed and struggles severely to make ends meet. On top of the daily struggles, the culture is so different in her country and she often gets publicly shamed for being a single mother just when walking to the market. “You have no papa? I feel so bad for you,” a stranger once inappropriately told her son.

This is a young mother who graduated from high school and gave up everything (which she’s never regretted) as well as lost her family and friends in the process because she wouldn’t have an abortion.

Last year I hosted a fundraiser for her but she has exhausted those funds due mostly to unexpected flooding and health issues as well as an increase in regular living expenses.

Thanks to the initial funds not only has she been able to provide her child with consistent food and necessities (something she once struggled with) but she also enrolled in online college (so she can be home and take care of her son but still further her education) with hopes of providing a more financially stable future for them both (She’s been doing amazing in school while raising him alone full-time!!).

However, since the last fundraiser flooding has been horrific in Indonesia and the place where she lived flooded multiple times. One time it was so bad she even had to evacuate leaving behind her belongings (video proof where you can see Zacky sitting with a neighbor CLICK HERE ). Upon returning after the flood, many items including most of her clothes were so damaged she had to throw them out. Due to this unforeseen catastrophe, and ongoing flooding she had to spend the remaining funds she had to move somewhere safer and for all of the moving costs.

Right when she started to run out of money, her son Zacky, who is now one year old, was diagnosed with respiratory issues. This has required multiple doctor’s visits, tests, a nebulizer for breathing treatments and several medications all of which has added to her financial burden. In fact, his treatment so far would be impossible without the help of donors. They both already get sick more often than normal and both frequently require medication – and you guys help save their lives!

The costs of groceries, diapers and other goods have also risen – the perfect storm. She’s now once again struggling to pay bills, buy groceries, and cover her necessities and medical expenses.

Despite their rough journey, Hafsah is such a good mom and spends every penny she gets making sure her son can have the best life possible. Many times she has gone without food herself to use the little bit of money she had to pay bills, buy diapers or buy food for her son.

I would love to bless her with a continuing fundraiser to help her with her bills while she is in college. The funds would help cover her expenses including: rent ($70/monthly), water, electric, Wi-Fi and phone (both for school purposes), medical treatments and groceries/diapers and other necessities.

I often help people who can’t or won’t help themselves but Hafsah is a force to be reckoned with due to the fact that she while she does currently need some extra help from others, she is determined to finish school, get a degree and a good job to take care of herself and her child. Let’s join together and help someone who is working their hardest to become skilled and independent.

Her everyday life is unimaginable to many of us, including myself, so please help me bless this momma! She’s been through so much and I would love if the pro-life movement could rally together and show her she has support even halfway across the world.

The cover photo was taken a couple months ago. Her son gets super excited after donations and they're able to get food and snacks!

NOTE: Although many people would assume she’s a scammer because she resides in another country, I can ensure that’s not the case. I’ve verified she is who says she is. I’ve also not only watched her story for months on Instagram (she frequently posts what’s going on and shows the food she buys with donations) but I’ve become her friend. We talk almost every night and I try to help her as much as possible, coming up with ways to make extra money simply so I can donate to her. I also originally thought about having people donate the items she needs and shipping them to her. However, after looking into shipping items to Indonesia, it’s next to impossible due to strict country import rules and COVID-19 restrictions. Additionally, I read many stories of things never even making it into the country at all so I had no choice but to ask for funds.
