Adrian & Andrea's Post-Cancer Surrogacy Journey
Donation protected
As you may well know, Andrea is a 2x breast cancer survivor whose doctors have cautioned against pregnancy while she completes five years of estrogen-blocking hormone therapy. Unbeknownst to many, research shows adoption agencies often discriminate against cancer survivors even though hopefuls like Andrea have a normal life expectancy. With that in mind, the couple’s hopes of ever becoming adoptive parents dwindled after her recurrence.
They’ve dreamt of starting a family of their own since the very first summer they met. Together now for seven years, their love story has brought them so many joys: worldwide travel, two goofy dogs, numerous camping adventures, a small island wedding, a home of their own and an adorable niece and two nephews. But their heart’s desire to become parents has eluded them—until now! In an unexpected cascade of events this past spring, Andrea’s oncology team approved attempting a single round of IVF and the couple now has 11 embryos undergoing genetic testing!
The expected total cost of surrogacy with an agency, however, ranges from $120,000 to $150,000. This accounts for the agency fee ($35k), the surrogate stipend ($45k), legal fees ($10k+) and healthcare costs during pregnancy and delivery (which are typically excluded from insurance policies and can range from $30k-$70k+). Fortunately, Adrian’s job provides financial reimbursement up to $40,000 for surrogacy! That miracle helps make the Belobradic biobaby a real option.
Andrea and Adrian have applied to six different surrogacy grants and are exploring fertility financing loans, donations through this GoFundMe and other personal financing options to make their dreams of parenthood a reality.
The donations given through this fundraiser will help cover the costs associated with Baby Belo's surrogacy and support Andrea and Adrian's winding road to parenthood. They are next in line to be matched with a surrogate through their agency, US Surrogacy, and hope to be pregnant by the end of the year!
They thank you for reading about their journey to parenthood and for supporting them always throughout cancer treatment and now pregnancy.
With gratitude,
Andrea and Adrian
