Hi, my name is MaryJo.
I’m a single mom to two beautiful children—Harper (4) and William (7). We recently moved back to Louisiana in August after spending time in Colorado for work. We were finally starting to settle in. I had just begun replacing the essentials we needed to make our house feel like a home again.
On November __, an electrical fire started in my bedroom. It completely incinerated my belongings and then spread through the ceiling into my children’s rooms. It continued burning inside the walls while firefighters worked for over an hour to fully put it out.
By the time the smoke cleared, everything was coated in heavy soot and smelled strongly of fire. We lost so much—clothes, beds, toys, daily necessities, and the sense of stability we were rebuilding.
My community has been unbelievably kind and generous already, and I’m deeply grateful. I’m creating this fundraiser because the fire has thrown me off my budget, my holiday plans, and the cushion I normally rely on to recover after Christmas. I’ve missed work, and the emotional toll has been heavy. I’m trying to stay strong for my babies as they adjust to yet another new home and the shock of losing their things.
Any help—no matter how small—will go toward replacing essentials, supporting us through the holidays, and giving us a little breathing room while we get back on our feet emotionally, financially, and physically.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for any support you’re able to give. It truly means the world to us.
