Hi, my name is Michelle, and I’m Ashley’s younger sister. It breaks my heart to see her fighting for her life and not knowing what the next chapter will bring. I’m scared for her future, and for my little nephew who still needs his mom for so many special moments ahead. I never imagined I’d have to write something like this, but I want to do everything I can to help. This fundraiser is my way of trying to lift some of the weight from her shoulders so she can focus on healing, being with her son, and looking forward to brighter days.

This summer, Ashley was diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 papillary thyroid cancer. On July 14th, she underwent a thyroidectomy and removal of affected lymph nodes. Unfortunately, her recovery has not gone as expected. Her recent test results show that the cancer numbers remain much too high, and doctors now believe that additional lymph nodes are affected. This means she is likely facing another surgery, followed by more treatments and a longer recovery than any of us ever imagined.

Because of this, Ashley has been told she cannot return to work until her health is stabilized. As you can imagine, this has been a huge emotional and financial strain on her family. Her husband, Pedro, has been by her side for every scan, biopsy, and appointment, often needing to miss work to drive her and help care for their young son, who just started kindergarten this fall. While we are so grateful for their love and strength, the reality is that their household income has taken a serious hit right when they are facing the greatest medical and living expenses of their lives.

This fundraiser will help Ashley and her family cover:

    •    Basic living costs while she is unable to work

    •    Medications and treatments not covered by insurance

    •    Travel and parking for countless hospital and specialist appointments

    •    Additional recovery needs during and after her upcoming surgery and treatments

We never imagined we’d be in a position where we would need to ask for financial help like this. But the truth is, Ashley and her family can’t do this alone.
