Just Wigging It

Hi my name is Renee Pinto and in August 2018 my world changed forever when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I underwent 2 years of treatment and I was blessed to have so many supportive individuals surrounding me and supporting me.

For many years I had been trying to work out how I can make a difference in the lives of those undergoing treatment, I have I done many fundraisers for NBCF and other cancer charities but I still felt it wasn’t enough.

Then it dawned on me two years ago. The one thing that made me not feel sick or look sick and gave me the courage to leave the house was my fabulous wig. And so begins what I feel I can do to make a difference.

Two years ago I decided to start a two yearly drive to purchase a wig for two-three cancer patients at Concord Concord Cancer Centre with my fundraiser “Just wigging it”.

My Autodesk colleagues kindly did a fundraiser for me raising over $1200 for my wig. It gave me the confidence to leave the house without anyone looking at me with sympathy. It made me feel like I was okay. It also made my family and friends comfortable in my presence and made them forget I was even sick. It was probably one of the biggest things anyone could have done for me at that time and changed my outlook. I want to be able to do the same with your help. I will be purchasing one wig every year myself at $1500 and I need your help in purchasing the second to third one, so together we can make a difference in the lives of two or more patients.

Those three lovely ladies who we were able to gives wigs too were so overwhelmed by your generosity, so thank you and thank you in advance to those who help again this time!
