Brosna Playground and Amenity Area Project

Hi, we are the Brosna Community Development Association(BCDA) consisting of local volunteers from the Brosna community. The group was set up to progress the development of a community amenity area consisting of a playground with car park, multi-use games area(MUGA) and an outdoor exercise area with a landscaped walkway.

We along with other local voluntary groups are passionate about Brosna and take pride in our local amenities and this is now continuing with this development. We can’t wait to start this wonderful project which will bring huge benefits to our community for both young and old. Our wish is that people have a safe, inclusive and enjoyable space in which to bring their children, exercise and have a stroll all year round.

We are delighted to have secured a site from St Brendan’s Trust and have now obtained full planning permission for this development from Kerry County Council ref No: 24/312. The location of which is at the village side of the old Presbytery at the top of the village.

It will require funding to bring this project to fruition at a cost of approx. €300,000. We will get help from both Kerry County Council and Government initiatives. The first of which is a CLÁR grant of €50,000 which we are delighted to confirm is secured. However, locally we will have to raise our own funds in the region of €100,000 to support further grant applications and to get the project started in 2025.

Project Development

Given the piecemeal nature of obtaining grants, a phased approach has to be taken;

Phase 1 – Outdoor exercise area with equipment and groundworks for the walkway and carpark (Spring 2025)

Phase 2 – Playground (2025)

Phase 3 – MUGA (2026)
