Hi! My name is Tábata. I live in Los Angeles with my husband, daughter, and son. As a last resort, I’m fundraising for my parents in Brazil.

Back in 2008, a couple of months after my mom’s mom unexpectedly passed away, the bank took my parent's house. Seventeen years later and several rental places to count, the current landlords need their house back and my parents MUST leave the property by June 30th. At the same time we have not been able to find an affordable rent for them, with most of the options being either houses for sale or Airbnb.

My father overcame a severe depression and has been working as a surveyor while fighting prostate cancer. My mom is looking for an additional work field as her art is not selling well in the current economy. 

Since we have been helping my parents for the past years, my husband and I have no savings at the moment. Nonetheless, for my parents not to end up homeless, we had no option but to get a loan and buy a small simple house for them.

With no regrets but aware of what this means financially to our family here, we simply cannot afford anything else at this point, and although we have secured the amount needed to pay the home with the loan, there are still all the fees to pay for the taxes and documentation required by law before we sign the contract. The deadline is on the corner.
