Hit by a car

Hello,

My name is Bianca. I am the mother of seven year old Calista. My daughter was born with a respiratory disability ( Pierre Robin Syndrome)

She has endured alot. Several surgeries, tracheostomy, feeding tube fed only, trouble communicating, poor weight ect. I thought we had gotten through the worst of her health battle.

However,

On April 29th, 2023 at 8:17pm my daughter was hit by a speeding car while crossing the intersection of Brandywine Rd and Dennison drive with my husband, my son and our two dogs.

When they initially crossed the street there were no cars in sight. While they were halfway across, my husband saw lights in the distance. He instructed the kids to run. My son made it safely, my daughter was right behind my son, and my husband was right behind my daughter holding the dogs. The car was going so fast though they were running ( in a well lit crosswalk) the car continued pace without ever honking, and struck my daughter, almost striking my husband as well. Calista flew up and landed head first behind the yellow lines she had just past.

She laid there still in a pool of blood as it gushed from her head. In a panic!!!

My husband picked her up and ran her home as we live a few houses down from the scene.

She survived ( Thank God!!!) However her injuries are severe.

Due to her injuries she is now in a wheelchair temporarily. Because of it she is not able to return to school for the remainder of the year.

Which means a lot of missed work days to care for her, both my husband and I.

We are currently pursuing legal actions, however it is a process that takes time.

Time that our bills are not giving us.

I'm DROWNING!!!!

And broken.

And emotionally overwhelmed

To have to see her go through this after EVERYTHING!!!.

On top of carrying for our three other kids, my son emotional trauma witnessing the event. The affect this is having on my marriage, the need to be strong for my kids.

The schedule with multiple doctors, my daughter's trauma.

I am struggling to provide for my family right now. My job is great!!

But I've used all my paid leave and I really need some help.
