David’s Medical Journey

Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Kate some of you probably know myself and David. I never thought in a million years this is something I would have to be doing or feel the need to do. David has been undergoing multiple surgeries. He had two emergency lower lumbar surgeries the end of June 2023, the second was major, as he had a hematoma and bone shards left behind from the one they did just the day before so within less than 12 hours he was back in the OR. Hoping everything would get better after that surgery, his health just started declining. He went in for prostate surgery a month later. He’s scheduled to have cervical surgery removing 2 disks in his neck and having them replaced. What is unfortunate is they can only do 2 at a time to avoid permanent damage but he has 5 or 6 that need to be replaced. It’s so bad it’s stopping his spinal fluid from getting down his spine. It’s been hard for him to walk, he can only walk with a cane sometimes a walker when it’s really bad. He went in for another prostate/bladder surgery on 12/29/2023 because of how much pain he was in. He was in the PACU for over 2 hours due to clotting. Eventually the surgeon kept him overnight and sent him home the next day with hopes that, that was it. Over the course of maybe 24 hours he started to not feel good and we went back to the hospital, the nurse ended up extracting a baseball sized blood clot. He was then admitted again for around the clock care. They’re trying to figure out what is going on and where he is still bleeding from. I can’t imagine the pain and trauma but I’ve been by his side trying to be a support system. As a family we have had to come out of pocket for medicine, doctors visits and more. This is so unexpected and it’s been a tough year. We’ve had to sell our home, and go back to renting with the money we received from the sale of our home. We’ve had to relocate and start over. And now we are struggling to just make ends meet with trips back and forth to doctors and hospitals. I genuinely feel so embarrassed. We’ve never been one to ask for a hand out, we just manage and make things work. We’ve always been able to find a way. He’s had his entire career ripped away from him. I’ve had to quit my job to have time to take care of him and help him do everyday tasks and to take care of our girls. Life just kicks you when you’re already down and I hate to say it but we need prayers and help. We’ve been trying our best, but if you could find it in your hearts to help even the smallest bit even if it’s just a prayer we would appreciate anything at this point. Myself, David, and our girls Rylee and Kali appreciate you all.
