I heard a little bit about Yusuf’s life as he Ubered me to Melbourne airport.

Single dad of three kids, he works hard making ends meet. His ex-wife left the family unit when the youngest child was 10 months old and since then Yusuf has been providing for and raising his kids alone.

In his youth he had to leave home to be able to finish high school. His family needed him to work, but he was eager to learn, so early in his teenage years he left to live with his grandma.

As we saw the signs for the airport on the freeway he said, “one day I hope I’ll be driving this way and I’ll be going to the airport to fly home”.

Since leaving Kenya 16 years ago, he hasn’t been able to save enough money to go home. He’d wished he could have gone home to see his grandmother one more time to thank her for helping him finish high school, the diploma that helped him get a job and work for the UN.

But unfortunately she passed away in 2019. As his mother gets older he is worried he won’t see her again either.

This is why I have created a gofundme page for Yusuf. Can we help to raise money for Yusuf to buy 1 ticket to Kenya for his youngest kid and he purchase his own flight? It would be the Minimum he would need to make it happen. Or can we raise enough to get him and all 3 of his kids to Kenya for a once in a life time trip?
