The Gift of Good Food

The holidays and good food go together like bread and butter. Join YSYF this festive season as we deliver a special dinner to our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and friends in Doryumu, Ghana.

Why are we fundraising? 
Food insecurity and malnutrition are an ongoing challenge in Doryumu, Ghana, and has been exacerbated by the pandemic. The cost of food has nearly doubled as families face steep inflation, and a newly instituted sales tax. Many families in Doryumu can afford to eat only a single meal per day, consisting mainly of carbohydrates (kenkey, garri, or rice), which lacks many of the essential nutrients we need.



Where does your donation go?
We are gathering the Doryumu community for an afternoon of games, health talks and YSYF updates on Christmas Eve. The event will be open to all community members, irrespective of faith. We will be providing families with a hot meal of jollof rice, stew, chicken, water and a drink.

$10 can provide a single meal to a community member. Our goal is $3,000 - that would ensure up to 300 people enjoy a hot meal with their community during this festive season :)
