HELP ME HELP MY MOM, PLEASE
Donation protected
As most of you probably know, my mom is my rock and the only member of my family who has always had my back 24/7. She was in fact instrumental in my moving abroad to experience life and the wonders of the world. I need to help her in return with this request.
My brother is selling his house, so my Mom is being forced to move as she has lived with him and his family for the past seven years. Austin has gotten so expensive that she can no afford to stay there. She has decided to move back to Kansas City, her hometown, where the weather isn't as hellish; the cost of living is markedly less; and she has close friends.
My Mom has always been a survivor and a giver both. She never recovered fully from either the recession or the pandemic. She lost all of her clientele which had taken her 10+ years to develop within the course of three days. Her condo and her retirement perished, yet she regrouped and soldered on. That's how she rolls.
She's always first in line to help out; transporting dogs to save them from being euthanized; fix a casserole or take food to someone; go visit people in the hospital; transport folks to doctors' appointments, or do whatever she can to assist or volunteer. She always takes care of everyone else never putting herself first. Case in point, my mom has not had a proper vacation since 1999.
With gig work and odd jobs - baking desserts, SHIPT shopping, redecorating, and petsitting for people - she has managed to stay afloat. Fortunately, the petsitting has morphed into full-time work, and she loves the furbabies. It's a win-win situation. Even with the petsitting business, she can no longer afford to live in Austin. Plus, she's ready to leave.
Relocation is expensive. My brother shortened the move date by six months which crippled my mother's to save more money for the journey. She finds herself in a real financial bind.
Additionally, I have no doubt that she'll have success as a dogsitter in Kansas City, but it's going to take a few months to build up a clientele. She will have no income aside from her Social Security which isn't enough to cover all the expenses.
I will be moving back to the States to help her reestablish her business and take care of her cats and mine as she has a few dogsitting appointments already booked in Austin for the upcoming year. She will need a petsitter while she's gone. That's where I come into play.
All things considered, my Mother would never ask for help. However, asking for donations is the best and only way I know how to assist her. I hope this isn't too tacky. All I want to do is to help my mom, so can you aid me in helping her?
Thanks a bunch!
