Supporting who? Restoring what? Who are we? Youth United!
What exactly is Youth United? We are a team of 5th grade students in Goochland County that prioritizes supporting our community. We have three main initiatives focused on different needs in our community.
- Restoring the River is an environmentally conscious team specializing in helping the ecosystem around us. We plan to host a James River cleanup, promote planting native vegetation, and build a Nature Center in the forest behind our school. We aspire to educate young people about the importance of taking care of our environment.
- Shelter Helpers is a kindhearted group invested in helping pets by gathering items like dog and cat food, peanut butter, and blankets. We have partnered with Goochland Pet Lovers to raise awareness about shelter animals in our community.
- Supporting People In Need is a compassionate team aimed at providing basic needs for local citizens. We have partnered with Goochland Cares and plan to host a food and clothes drive.
Our goal with this fundraising effort is to raise at least $20,000 to support our goals to improve our community. Monetary donations will be split among the three groups with 80% going towards our biggest project, a Nature Center pavilion. This pavilion will provide a space for us to have hands-on opportunities and experiential learning for all students in our school. The additional 20% will be split evenly between both Goochland Cares and Goochland Pet Lovers.
