Help the Dunn's Corners Teen Team reach our goal of traveling to Ghana, West Africa July 30th-Aug 10th, 2020. Twelve youth from Westerly, Rhode Island, ages 14-20, will spend ten days in Kasoa and Senya, Ghana working on service projects initiated by local Ghanaian partner organizations  in order to address pressing issues. These service projects will address areas including public health, children's rights, recycling, and education. We'll be working with the Youth Action Volunteers of Senya,  our sister youth group in Ghana. Currently, we video-conference monthly with this group to build rapport and collaboratively plan for our parallel youth activities that span the Atlantic Ocean! 

Our goals are to promote recycling and environmental education, to support classroom skills for teaching students with learning differences, and to bolster accessible and affordable STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) education materials by training students how to use Science kits.   The Teen Team will be taking this trip in partnership with Star Service and Study Abroad and the Michael Walton Foundation (a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization).

In addition to service projects, the Youth Group will also be spending time in the classroom learning about the language and culture of Ghana. Our learning will be put to practical use so that we will be informed volunteers, maximizing our impact during this short trip.

Donations will be used toward our travel and to help support the Ghanian grassroots community projects. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated and help to bring us one step closer towards our goal.
